Buddy Fite & Friend - S/T

Bell Records 6058/1973-1975? - another mediocre mellow jazz guitarist playing cover songs. produced by Bob Mersey, covers of Bacharach, Beatles, Stevie Wonder, yawn. Oregon based musician, on the back cover says his style is similar to Howard Roberts, Barney Kessel, or a piano-style guitar like Art Tatum. My price was 3-/overall grade C+/nothing will cause me to ever play it again.

Comments:
A tremendously gifted musician that can bring to life even the most tired cover tunes, Buddy Fite is a rare treat. Whether or not you are partial to cover tunes in jazz-pop stylings is another thing, but I would suggest that listeners should be open if they hope to experience the best in music. I can enjoy Art Ensemble, Black Flag or yes, even a Bacharach cover. It's just a matter of creativity and expression. I wouldn't be so dismissive of Buddy Fite. I'm sure most guitar players will be quick to defend the beauty of this work. And many mere listeners should agree. Buddy is an absolute favorite of mine.
